Open Day

On Friday, 17 July 2026, the museums and collections of Heidelberg University will open their doors to the public. Whether anatomical specimens, scientific instruments, models, artworks, manuscripts, or everyday objects, these collections hold stories of curiosity, research, and transformations - and raise many thought-provoking questions about the present and the future.

Through heiCOLLECTIONS, the University is bringing greater visibility to these unique repositories of knowledge. As a new umbrella brand, heiCOLLECTIONS connects the collections, strengthens their role in research and teaching, and invites everyone to experience scholarship and science up close.

A diverse programme of activities awaits you across the city. Join guided tours, enjoy behind-the-scenes access, meet researchers and curators, discover remarkable objects, and try out the new heiCOLLECTIONS augmented reality app.

Everyone is warmly invited to rediscover the collections together. Please be aware that most of the events will be taking place in German.

Photographs and video recordings will be taken during the event. By attending, you consent to their use and publication in print and online media, including social media, for public relations and communication purposes.
