Institute of Classical and Byzantine Archaeology Corpus of Minoan and Mycenaean Seals

The Corpus of Minoan and Mycenaean Seals records and publishes seals and seal rings from the Aegean region
The collection was founded in Marburg in 1957 and has been based at Heidelberg University since the end of 2011. Today, the Corpus comprises more than 12,000 seal impressions, taken either directly from the originals or from ancient impressions. In addition, there are several thousand negatives, photographs, and drawings that document the material with exceptional density. In this way, researchers and students can compare and analyze the imagery of Aegean glyptic here without depending on travel to international collections. The Corpus thus makes a central visual medium of Minoan and Mycenaean cultures accessible in its full diversity and available for sustained research.
