The Historical Archive of the University Psychiatric Clinic consists primarily of patient records from the clinic’s 125-year history

The University Psychiatric Clinic was founded in 1878 as the “Grand Ducal Baden University Psychiatric Hospital Heidelberg.” The Historical Archive contains forensic reports, case histories, military hospital records, as well as administrative files from the long history of the University Psychiatric Clinic. It therefore holds valuable records for the history of medicine and psychiatry, which deals with changing ideas about and treatments for mental illness.
