Institute of Pathology Collection of the Institute of Pathology

The permanent exhibition of the Institute of Pathology presents many specimens, arranged by organ system in display cases, illustrating diseases and malformations of different organ groups
The collection includes wet specimens of the heart, lungs, digestive and reproductive organs, and the brain; all organs on display show pathological changes. The oldest exhibits were prepared in the 1920s, and additional specimens continued to enter the collection into the 1990s. At the same time, the sometimes highly advanced manifestations of individual diseases also indicate changes in medicine. Many such conditions would now be detected and treated earlier. Alongside the specimens, the exhibition also provides an insight into the history of the Institute of Pathology.
