Institute of Earth Sciences TERTIARY GARDEN OF THE GEOLOGICAL-PALAEONTOLOGICAL INSTITUTE

The Tertiary Garden forms the outdoor section of the Museum of Geosciences and consists of a reconstruction of typical plant communities of the Tertiary.
The plant community reconstructed in the Tertiary Garden led to the formation of the seams (a sedimentary deposit of a raw material) of the Rhenish lignite mining district.
